Suburb profile

Berrima is a quieter smaller community in Wingecarribee, where peace, space and a country-town pace still dominate. The community is self-contained in the best sense. Local life comes first, with the region opening up beyond. Leafy streets and shaded corners make the suburb feel greener and more established than many nearby.

An older demographic makes it especially popular with retirees, with multiple generations sharing the same neighbourhood. Life here is grounded in local routine rather than big-city choice, and that is part of the charm. Outdoor life is easy here, with generous parks and room for kids, dogs and weekend strolls.

Public transport is a genuine asset, linking residents to work, study and nearby neighbourhoods. Housing carries a premium, but residents tend to feel the lifestyle justifies the commitment.

The desirability score is below average, weighed down by weaker local dining and lifestyle amenities and housing affordability against similar regional towns, even with parks and green space and community and employment holding up better. Limited access to some essential local services also trimmed the result.
