Suburb profile
Mount Wilson sits up in the Blue Mountains hills, a smaller community where elevation and tree cover define the mood. Life revolves around the local community, with the wider region offering trips and services when needed. Fresh country air and elevated outlooks are part of the appeal up here among the hills.
Retirees and empty-nesters are well represented here, with families and grandchildren still a visible part of community life. Green space is a real strength, with parks and playgrounds woven through the suburb. Homes here are sought-after, with many people drawn to the lifestyle the area offers.
Infill and new builds are slowly updating the area without overwhelming its existing character.

Roadworks & transport
1 active roadworks / incidents
- Allow extra travel time. Check signage. Expect delays. Following recent periods of heavy rainfall, a geotechnical inspection was conducted on Mount Wilson Road and determined that there has been increased settlement and ground movement, with deterioration of the pavement. It has been recommended that Council close the affected lane and undertake temporary works to prevent further deterioration. As a result, the Mount Wilson bound lane on the approach to the hairpin bend will be closed to traffic from 12.00pm on Friday 15 August 2025, until further notice.Due to the restricted road width at the hairpin bend, vehicles over 5 meters need to use caution.Provision is being made for larger emergency vehicles and Council is finalising additional analysis to determine what vehicles are permissible, and under what conditions, and will issue updated communications once known.Mount Wilson Road15 Aug 2025 – 14 Aug 2026
