What Oakdale is known for: Green suburb, High desirability, Excellent transport

Suburb profile

Oakdale is a hillside smaller community in Wollondilly, with elevated streets and a greener, quieter pace. The community is self-contained in the best sense. Local life comes first, with the region opening up beyond. Ridge-top pockets and tree cover give the area a cooler, greener hillside feel.

Families and commuters make up much of the community, with plenty of young families in the mix. Local shops, markets and community spots keep everyday life grounded in the town itself. Green space is a real strength, with parks and playgrounds woven through the suburb.

Buses and nearby services make commuting and cross-suburb trips straightforward. Housing carries a premium, but residents tend to feel the lifestyle justifies the commitment.

On the desirability index, the suburb rates good overall, led by housing affordability and safety, while local dining and lifestyle amenities and schools and education sit closer to the middle of the pack for similar regional towns.
